About the Role

The CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (C.A.R.) is looking for a media-savvy Public Relations/Media Relations Manager to help shape the conversation around housing, policy, and real estate in California. Reporting to the Public Relations Director, you’ll play a high-impact role elevating C.A.R.’s voice with top-tier media, policymakers, and the public.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and execute PR strategies that advance C.A.R.’s mission and priorities
  • Write and pitch press releases, op-eds, talking points, and thought-leadership content
  • Secure earned media across print, digital, broadcast, podcast, and emerging platforms
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts
  • Manage media inquiries and help prepare spokespersons
  • Respond quickly to breaking news and industry developments
  • Track coverage and trends; provide insights and media analysis
  • Collaborate across teams to promote advocacy efforts, initiatives, and programs

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in public relations, media relations, journalism, or communications
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills
  • A proven track record of securing earned media and managing press relationships
  • Strong organization and project management skills
  • A collaborative, creative, and proactive approach
  • Interest or experience in housing, real estate, public policy, or advocacy is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, PR, journalism, or a related field
  • Willingness to travel occasionally
